Hartal on September 13, 14

September 06, 2010 07:05 pm | Updated 07:05 pm IST - KATTAPPANA:

The High Range Protection Council, which is spearheading an agitation by farmers in the district for condition-free title deeds, will go on with the hartal planned by it on September 13 and 14 in the Peerumade, Udumbanchola and Devikulam taluks and Kanjikuzhy and Vazhathoppe grama panchayats of Thodupuzha taluk.

The United Democratic Front has extended support to the hartal.

Earlier, the Left Democratic Front, which also had announced a 48-hour hartal on the same days in the district demanding issuance of condition-free title deeds to all those who have settled prior to January 1, 1977, had suspended their plan in the wake of the Cabinet decision on Thursday to amend the special rule of 1993 and initiate action to give condition-free title deeds to the farmers.
