When it was constructed several years ago there were no issues. But as wetlands in the surrounding areas began to be converted for constructing buildings, the Sree Narayana Guru Mandiram of the SNDP Yogam branch at Maruthadi in the city began facing a serious problem.

Whenever it rained heavily, the shrine went under water. The devotees have been thinking of ways to save the shrine from floods but nothing worked out. Their dream is now coming true with the help of a team of experts from Haryana managing to lift the shrine intact to a height of 4.2 feet.

While being lifted the shrine did not develop any crack. The work was done by five men attached to the company House Lifting Service India. The work is not over, but the shrine is now at a height safe from floods. The experts have given an assurance that they would successfully complete the job in 20 days.
