Opposition leader Oommen Chandy on Saturday alleged that the CPI(M) led LDF Government in Kerala was blatantly utilising government machinery to manipulate the electoral rolls in Kannur.
The people have been brought in buses and Government machinery was being used to manipulate the electoral rolls, Mr. Chandy charged while inaugurating the UDF election convention of Ernakulam assembly segment.
Police were acting as “mere spectators” without taking any action against the perpetrators of the clash between CPI(M) and IUML he said alleging that the law and order situation was in shambles.
He said several central government aided projects were not being executed and development projects were lagging behind.
The Centre had allotted Rs.1441.25 crore for rehabilitation of Tsunami victims. But only 20 per cent funds had been utilised by March this year, he charged.
Union Minister K V Thomas also spoke. IUML General Secretary, P K Kunhalikutty, and UDF convener P P Thankachan were among those present.
