The Pinarayi Vijayan government is trying to present before the rest of the country a new Left model of development, which focusses on building infrastructure and facilities, while standing firm within the Left policy framework, without violating any labour rights or human rights, Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac has said.

He was replying to the discussion on the Kerala Appropriation (No. 3) Bill in the House on Thursday

“We are not embracing privatisation. This finance Bill reflects the policy of the Left that the fruits of development should benefit the common man. ... But there are new challenges and the growing aspirations and hopes of the second generation, which has enjoyed the benefits of these developments. This new development model should help us meet these goals,” Dr. Isaac said.

He said that it was no small achievement that separate heads had been created for all the new projects declared in the last Budget.

The government was adopting innovative financing approaches while ensuring that the focus on developing traditional sectors like handloom and providing social security for the people was not lost, Dr. Isaac said.

The Bill was passed by the Assembly .
