Government to expedite land acquisition for coach factory

Revenue Minister K. P. Rajendran said here on Thursday that the government would expedite acquisition of land for the proposed Railway Coach factory at Kanjikode which had received the approval of the Planning Commission.

The land will be handed over with the time frame specified by the Railways, the Minister told the media. An IAS officer will be in charge of acquisition on a fast track basis.

Mr. Rajendran urged those agitating against acquisition of land for the factory to withdraw their stir. The government would address their concerns and implement a satisfactory rehabilitation scheme for the evictees.
