Good relations with Chennithala: Chandy

January 28, 2013 05:47 pm | Updated 05:47 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and the Congress Legislature Party have been working in unison and that there are no differences between him and KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala.

The Chief Minister was responding to questions from the media here on Monday on the Nair Service Society’s threat to pull down the government if Mr. Chennithala was not given a ‘key post’ in government.

“We have been working together for the past eight years. We have seen no fight between the party and government unlike in the past.”

Maintaining that he was not for creating a controversy by joining issue with NSS general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair, Mr. Chandy said people had the freedom to interact with the Congress party and criticise its government. Mr. Nair was exercising that liberty.

Asked whether Mr. Nair was acting as a proxy for Mr. Chennithala, the Chief Minister said that if the KPCC president had anything to tell him, he would have spoken to him directly. “We are having good relations,” he added.
