An iron box that works on kerosene, a water bottle used by soldieries during the First World War, handcuffs used during the British regime, carved lamps and many more antiques are on display at the Paramekkavu Agraharam hall in the city.
The exhibition organised by the Heritage Society of Kerala has around 10,000 curios from the 18th, 19th and 20th century. They include various farm equipment, lamps and vessels used for rituals and ceremonies of different religions, and articles used by kings, offering glimpses into the cultural heritage of a bygone era.
Collections
The water bottle used by soldiers during the World War and the iron box are from the collection of Allesh Kuthore of Ayyanthole. The collection also includes includes a whip used to torture slaves, wooden bells used for cattle, a wooden pulley and and a range of field cameras.
Stephan Varghese of Ernakulam has brought to the exhibition handcuffs used during British rule, its lock and key and a cashbox that bears the emblem of the Travancore kingdom.
A 300-year-old wooden elephant, rare utensils, ceramic pots, a valve radio, palm-leaf writings and traditional ornaments are also on display. The exhibition will end on Sunday.
