Ganesh Pyne selected for Raja Ravi Varma award

Well-known painter Ganesh Pyne, whose works are appreciated for their rich imagery and symbolism, has been selected for the Raja Ravi Varma award of the Kerala Government.

The Kolkata-based artist was chosen for the honour in view of his outstanding contribution to the contemporary Indian art, State Culture Minister M A Baby said.

The award, instituted in memory of legendary artist Raja Ravi Varma, carries a purse of Rs 1.25 lakh, citation and memento.

The painters who had been chosen for Kerala’s topmost award for artists included M F Husain.
