Forests Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar said that he has withdrawn his observations about Leader of the Opposition V. S. Achuthanandan.

Addressing a news conference at the Assembly media room shortly after the House was adjourned for the day amidst Opposition uproar on Friday, Mr. Ganesh Kumar said he had got carried away by the fervour of his party men and UDF workers present at the public meeting at his constituency Pathanapuram, where he had made the remarks on Thursday.

“I respect VS’ age. I respect the love of the people who adore him. What I had said at the meeting was something that I should not have said. I withdraw my remarks and I tender my sincere apologies for having made such remarks,” Mr. Ganesh Kumar said.

The Minister said that he was upset because Mr. Achuthanandan had been hounding his father (former Minister R. Balakrishna Pillai) and his family for the last 18 years. “I am also a son, not a piece of log,” Mr. Ganesh Kumar said.
