Fronts playing hide-and-seek: BJP leader

June 20, 2013 03:33 am | Updated June 07, 2016 07:30 am IST - KANNUR:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive member C.K. Padmanabhan has said that the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Opposition Left Democratic Front (LDF) are playing hide-and-seek in the solar panel scandal in the State.

Inaugurating a BJP workers’ march to the Collectorate here on Wednesday demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy owning responsibility in the scandal, the BJP leader said the Chief Minister’s resignation was the only option and he had been colluding with all kinds of dishonest practices. Mr. Chandy was now on the defensive and, therefore, he should step down and face probe, the BJP leader said.

The BJP is not demanding the resignation of the UDF Ministry, he said adding that the LDF also had a role in the scandal. Government Chief Whip P.C. George was the real Leader of the Opposition today, he added.

Mr. Padmanabhan said governance in the State was in a standstill because of the controversy over the solar panel scandal. While the State was facing a serious flood situation, drinking water still remained scarce, he said.
