Wayanad Collector Kesavendrakumar has said that continuous efforts and self-confidence are the major factors to achieve success in the Civil Services examination.

Mr. Kesavendrakumar was handling a two-hour interactive session with students on the examination, its syllabus, question pattern and preparation methods, after inaugurating a Civil Services Examination Coaching Centre set up by Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) at Pookode in the district on Tuesday.

Science, social science

Vast knowledge on social sciences and science subjects from classes VI to XII was mandatory for the exams, Mr. Kesavendrakumar said. Comprehensive reading was required for answering essay-type questions, for which aspirants should read at least one English and one local language daily everyday, he said.

Even while preparing for the examination, the students also consider an alternative career path. Preparations for the exam motivate students to appear for other entrance examinations such as CSIR-JRF, bank probationary examination and Common Admission Test for MBA programme in business schools, he added.

Joseph Mathew, registrar, KVASU, said the university would facilitate free Civil Services coaching and appropriate library facilities for the students of the district. Career and educational awareness classes would also be on offer, T.P. Sethumadhavan, Director of Entrepreneurship, KVASU, said.
