Four injured in CPI(M)-IUML clash

Four people including a woman were injured in clashes between workers of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) at Poyilil near Taliparamba here on Thursday.

The trouble broke out on Wednesday night when a flag pole of the IUML and a bus shelter erected by local CPI(M) were destroyed by rival party workers. An IUML activist, M.H. Afsal (23) were beaten up by suspected CPI(M) workers at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday. In a retaliatory attack, a group of suspected IUML activists stormed into the house of a CPI(M) worker and attacked him at around 1: 30 a.m. His brother Ratheesh (25), mother M. Shantha (50) were also injured in the attack. A makeshift shed near the house was also damaged.
