Former Communist leader Janardhana Kurup passes away

Senior Criminal Lawyer and former Communist Leader G. Janardhana Kurup died at his residence here on Friday morning.

He was 91. He was ailing for some time. Hailing from Kollam, he had participated in the freedom struggle and was one of the founders of Kerala Peoples Arts Club (KPAC) a theatre movement which propagated communist ideologies among the common people in 1950s.

He had worked as Special Public Prosecutor for many criminal cases including the Suriyanelli rape case.
