Forest Minister Benoy Viswam cancelled his visit to Bengaluru on Monday for discussions on relaxing the traffic ban along the national highway from Mysore to Wayanad through the Bandipur National Park.
Mr. Viswam decided to cancel the trip because Karanataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa is scheduled to leave for Delhi on Monday and hence unable to meet the official delegation from Kerala.
The decision to send Benoy Viswam and Transport Minister Jose Thettayil for talks with the Karnataka government was taken during the telephonic discussions Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan had with his counterpart in Karnataka on September 10. Later, it was decided that Mr. Viswam alone would lead an official team to Bengaluru as Mr. Thettayil had contracted the Influenza A(H1N1).
Official sources said that a fresh date would be fixed for the talks after the Karanataka Chief Minister returned from Delhi.
