Forest deputy range officer arrested

A deputy range officer of the Forest Department at Sholayur in Attappady was arrested by the police on Tuesday afternoon on charges of showering abuses on the general public after consuming alcohol from a liquor outlet of Tamil Nadu in Anaikatty across the border.

The arrested has been identified as Sudheesh Kumar (40), who heads the Sholayur Forest Station under Agali Range.

According to police, Sudheesh Kumar crossed the border while on duty to consume alcohol from Anaikatty and started abusing the public on his return.

The local people waylaid him and kept him in confinement till police arrived on the spot.

Sudheesh kumar showered abuses on the police and forest range officer, who reached the spot after learning about the incident.

The arrest was recorded and he was remanded in judicial custody after being produced in a court at Mannarkkad.
