Folklore village at Mananthavadi campus of Kannur University

Dr. P.K. Michale Tharakan, Vice Chancellor, Kannur University has said that the University will set up a folklore village at the Mananthavadi campus of the university.

Addressing the media persons at Mananthavadi on Friday, he said the details of the village had been submitted to the University Grants Commission for approval. The proposed village would consist of a folk lore open theatre, audio visual auditorium and a museum.

The village aimed at imparting knowledge to the scholars and visitors on the ethnic art forms of the tribal people, their culture and various traditional products, he said. A hostel for the visitors and scholars are also on the anvil, he added. Mr. Tharakan said the University recognised the syllabus for the Rural and Tribal Sociology, a two year newly commenced PG course.
