Flower show drawing crowds in Thiruvalla

With a day left for its culmination, the flower show, ‘Pushpotsav - 2010’ organised by the Agri-Horticulture Society has been drawing crowds from different parts of Central Travancore on Monday.

Competitions in different categories that include vegetable carving, flower and fruit arrangements, house gardens, institutional gardens, vegetable gardens, potted plants, ornamental plants, cacti and succulent collection and so forth were held during the past two days.

Metropolitan Archbishop of Thiruvalla, Thomas Mar Coorilos, inaugurated the public meeting held in the afternoon. District Collector, S. Lalithambika, distributed the prizes to the winners in various competitions held as part of the annual event.

Mr. M.P. Gopalakrishnan, society office-bearer, presided over the meeting and organising committee conveners, K. Prakhasbabu and Baby Mulamoottil, also spoke.

Cultural programme by cine artiste, Suraj Venjaramood, was another attraction on Monday evening.

District Superintendent of Police, K. Sanjaykumar, will inaugurate the valedictory function on Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Cherian Polachirakal, municipal chairman, will preside over the meeting.
