Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president-designate V.M. Sudheeran has said that the Congress leadership has given him a huge responsibility and he hopes to deliver on a pro-people platform that will strengthen the party.
Reacting to his nomination as the new KPCC president, Mr. Sudheeran thanked Congress president Sonia Gandhi and thousands of party workers “who made me what I am”. “I view the position in all seriousness. The first major challenge is the Lok Sabha elections that are round the corner. I hope to get the Congress leaders and workers to function as a team to secure victory,” he said.
Mr. Sudheeran called on the Chief Minister at his residence and met Union Minister Vayalar Ravi at the government guest house. Outgoing KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala welcomed the high command’s decision on Mr. Sudheeran and V.D. Satheesan, who was appointed as KPCC vice-president. “The decision will energise party workers and other democratic forces,” he said. Forests Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said the choice was apt.
