With the deadline for filing nomination papers for the April 10 Lok Sabha elections fast approaching, candidates of major political parties, Independents, and others filed their nomination papers across the State on Thursday.
Among those who filed their nominations in Thiruvananthapuram were BJP leader O. Rajagopal, LDF nominee Bennet P. Abraham of the CPI, and the former IAS officer and BSP candidate J. Sudhakaran in Thiruvananthapuram.
As many as 11 nominations were filed before District Collector Biju Prabhakar on Thursday. In Kollam, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member M.A. Baby filed his nomination papers before District Collector Pranab Jyothinath. In Pathanamthitta, the LDF-backed Independent Peelipose Thomas filed his papers before District Collector S. Harikishore. In Kannur, UDF candidate K. Sudhakaran and his LDF rival P.K. Sreemathy filed their nomination papers before District Collector P. Balakiran.
In Thrissur, BJP candidate K.P. Sreesan filed his papers before District Collector M.S. Jaya. In Palakkad, CPI(M) nominees M.B. Rajesh and P.K. Biju, in Palakkad and Alathur respectively, and Congress candidate in Alathur K.A. Sheeba filed their nominations before Disrict Collector K. Ramachandran.
In Wayanad, CPI candidate Sathyan Mokeri and BJP’s P.R. Rashmilnath filed their papers before District Collector Kesavendra Kumar. Five more nominations, including that of the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) candidate in Vadakara N.V. Prathap Kumar, were filed before District Collector C.A. Latha.
The last date for filing nominations is March 22. The scrutiny would take place on March 24.
