Feud in Kerala Congress faction set to worsen

Both factions to hold separate conclaves today

January 18, 2014 02:28 pm | Updated May 13, 2016 10:25 am IST - KOTTAYAM:

The feud in the Kerala Congress faction aligned to the Left Democratic Front (LDF) is all set to gain momentum when both the factions will hold separate conclaves here on Saturday.

Though the leadership of the party stood vertically split with chairman P.C. Thomas and V. Surendran Pillai on the one side and executive chairman Scaria Thomas and secretary general George Sebastian on the other, open mudslinging was absent for the past few weeks after the initial spar early last month, following strict directive from CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan.

LDF caution

Mr. Vijayan had curtly told the feuding leaders to mend their ways or find their way out of the coalition, openly in the presence of the media.

However, it appears that both the factions, which kept silent, were engaged in an effort to stock ammunition for the final assault.
