Fee of Rs.75,000 for engineering seats in private colleges

May 30, 2014 10:33 am | Updated 10:33 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The annual fee for 15 government seats in private self-financing engineering colleges in the State this year would be Rs.75,000.

In the other 15 government seats, even though the fee would be the same, the managements would provide Rs.25,000 as scholarship: the effective fee would thus be Rs.50,000. There are 60 seats in an engineering batch.

The fee for the 21 management quota seats in these 108 colleges would be Rs.75,000 plus an additional fee of Rs.10,000. For the nine NRI quota seats in a batch, the fee would be Rs.1.5 lakh, without any additional deposit.

This fee formula was finalised at a meeting held here on Thursday between Education Minister P. K. Abdu Rabb and representatives of the Kerala Self-Financing Engineering College Managements Association. Association secretary P. A. Vijayan told The Hindu after the talks that a formal seat-fee agreement with the government would be signed on June 4.

“For 15 government seats the managements would credit a scholarship of Rs.25,000 to each student.” he said.
