Fast to press demand for CBI probe into MCL scam

January 24, 2012 06:17 pm | Updated October 18, 2016 01:05 pm IST - PALAKKAD:

A mass fast undertaken by the Janakeeya Action Council demanding an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into charges of corruption in the public- sector Malabar Cements Ltd and the death of the former company secretary V. Saseendran and his two sons on January 24 last year was inaugurated by M.R. Murali, chairman, Shoranur Municipality, at Kollengode, near here, on Tuesday.

The CBI inquiry into the death of Sasheendran and his sons had found “serious lapses on the part of the local police that resulted in the destruction of vital evidence.” Mr. Murali urged the CBI to submit its report on the causes that led to the death of the former company secretary. He also sought the arrest of officials and contractors charge-sheeted in the scams in MCL by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau.

The meeting was addressed by K. Krishnankutty, secretary general, Socialist Janata (Democratic); Congress leader and former MLA K.A. Chandran; Action Council chairman R. Aravindakshan; and vice-chairman Joy Kedarath.
