A retired Border Security Force jawan and his wife were found dead inside their residence at Nayattupara here on Saturday. It was suspected to be a case of suicide.

The police identified the deceased as K.M. Madhusoodhanan (44) and his wife Bindu (36). While Madhusoodhanan’s body was found with a bullet injury in a room on the upper floor of the house, his wife’s body was found hanging in a room on the ground floor. A two-bore rifle was also found near the body of the ex-serviceman. According to preliminary investigation, the Madhusoodhanan shot himself to death first and the wife could have ended her life later.

The police said that their two school-going children saw the body of their father when they woke up in the morning. Neighbours who reached the spot on hearing the wails of the children found the ground floor room locked from inside.

The body of Bindu was found in the room when the police persons who reached there broke open the closed door.

The police said that Madhusoodhanan, who retired from the BSF, bought the gun two months ago. As per the police records, he did not have any gun licence, the police added.
