Explosion at Kerala fireworks unit kills 10

At least 10 persons died and 30 sustained serious burn injuries in explosions at three units of a fireworks manufacturing factory at Thranjali near Shoranur on Tuesday evening.

Thirty workers, including women, were working in the units and many of them were feared to have been seriously injured.

A number of houses in Shoranur and Deshamangalam areas nearby, developed cracks due to the impact of the blast.

Initial reports said that 30 workers were engaged in three fireworks units preparing fireworks for temple festivals in the area.

There are also reports that two train passengers died when the firearms burst and fell on a moving train.
