Exclusive court to try child abuse cases

In the light of alarming instances of harassment against children, including sexual abuse of minors, a special court here has come into being to exclusively try such cases.

Additional district sessions court-I here will now dispose of such cases, a step that will ensure speedy redress to the affected persons.

Prior to the decision taken as per the High Court directive the cases related to atrocities on minors were handled by the Principle Sessions Court, sources said.

Of the 104 sexual harassment cases on minors, 14 are under investigation.

Sole focus

The additional district sessions court will now focus only on cases pertaining to atrocities on minors after delivering verdict in other pending cases.
