Eight-member gang held

An eight-member inter-State gang allegedly involved in vehicle thefts was nabbed by the police at Shivapuram, under the Malur police station limits, here on Sunday.

Two cars and Rs.85,000 were recovered from the gang, the police said adding that seven of the eight arrested hailed from Olavanna in Kozhikode district.

Those in custody were identified as T.P. Mujeebrahman, 29; Nawaz, 23; P.P. Hamza Koya, 30; Rafeeque, 24; K.R. Anees, 29; K.P. Shoukath, 25; P. Muthalib, 28; and Raisan George, 30. The last man hailed from Kollam, the police said.

The police pursued the gang, travelling in the two cars, following information about their move to abduct a person from Shivapuram after midnight, sources said.
