Each police district to have a cyber cell

August 01, 2013 04:05 am | Updated 04:05 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Kerala Cabinet has decided to establish 19 cyber police cells in the State in view of the increasing number of cyber crimes in the State.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the media after the weekly Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday that each police district would have a cyber police cell. The Cabinet had sanctioned 133 posts for the cells (seven for each cell).

The Chief Minister said the Cabinet had decided to create 356 supernumerary posts for making pending appointments under the dying in harness scheme. This would not involve any additional expenditure for the government as it had already decided to pay salaries equal to that drawn by the dead person to his family if the appointment was delayed, despite the family having an eligible person.

He recalled that the government had given appointments to 549 persons under the scheme in May last year by creating supernumerary posts since postings, otherwise, took years.

Mr. Chandy announced that the Cabinet had also sanctioned 758 posts for the 12 newly formed taluks. Out of these, 102 posts would be filled through redeployment.

Dental units would be started in all 14 taluk hospitals which were not having a unit now. The Cabinet had sanctioned 14 posts of dental surgeons for the same.

The Education Department would be asked to issue a government order creating additional posts sanctioned in higher secondary schools. The Cabinet had earlier sanctioned 205 posts of higher secondary teachers, 448 posts of higher secondary junior teachers, and 16 posts of laboratory assistant.

Mr. Chandy said the government would stand guarantee for a Rs.45-crore loan to be taken by the Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation from financial agencies.
