The police destroyed 2,500 litres of wash used for making arrack in a raid at Agali grama panchayat on Friday. The wash was found stored in 10 barrels at a place close to the Abbannur tribal hamlet. The raid was conducted by the nodal officer of Janamaithri police in Attappady and Sub-Inspector of Police K. Krishnankutty and 37 police personnel from the Kerala Armed Police second battalion at Muttikulangara. Mr. Krishnankutty said the illicit brewing was being carried out by an non-tribal. However, he managed to give the police the slip, Mr. Krishnankutty said.
