DLitt conferred on Mohanlal, Usha

Governor says both have touched the lives of the youth

The University of Calicut on Monday conferred honorary DLitt (Doctor of Letters) on actor Mohanlal and Olympian P.T. Usha.

Presenting the degrees, Governor P. Sathasivam said that the university was strengthening the academia by finding and recognising exemplary models in the society.

Mr. Sathasivam said that both Mr. Mohanlal and Ms. Usha had touched the lives of the youth in their respective fields of choice.

Diligence

Education Minister C. Ravindranath addressed the convocation held on the university campus. He said both Mr. Mohanlal and Ms. Usha climbed the heights of success through diligence and dedication in spite of them having had no family legacy to claim.

Delivering his convocation speech, Vice Chancellor K. Mohammed Basheer said the university took pride in honouring two towering personalities like Mr. Mohanlal and Ms. Usha in its golden jubilee year.

Mr. Mohanlal and Ms. Usha addressed the gathering. They said the day would be memorable in their lives.

Pro Vice Chancellor P. Mohan and Registrar T.A. Abdul Majeed spoke.
