The probe into the abduction and sexual assault on a female actor in Kochi has taken a new turn with reports now emerging that actor Dileep, key accused in the case, allegedly forged documents to mislead investigators.

Sources said, the actor, during interrogation, had claimed that he had been under treatment for fever at a private hospital in Aluva for a week from February 14. To establish this, he also furnished a set of documents regarding the treatment administered by the hospital. A follow-up investigation by the SIT proved the actor had visited the hospital during daytime though he did not get admitted.

“His attempted to create an impression that he was hospitalised when the crime was committed. He had procured these documents, including a medical certificate from the same doctor, sometime later,” they said. The investigators claimed to have received evidence for the actor visiting a few film locations too during the period. They recorded the statement of the doctor and nursing staff at the hospital who had treated the actor.

Hospital’s stance

Meanwhile, the hospital authorities have said that they had handed over details of the treatment given to the actor. They said Dileep was never admitted but was treated as an outpatient. “He used to visit the hospital every morning to take medicines and returned a couple of hours later. A paramedical staff was regularly sent to his residence to give a shot every evening,” they held.

The revelations came even as the SIT was holding a meeting on Thursday over naming Dileep as the first accused in the supplementary chargesheet.
