Did not ridicule MLAs: Mani

March 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - KOTTAYAM:

Finance Minister K.M. Mani on Sunday issued a clarification regarding his reference to women MLAs from the Left Democratic Front during the budget presentation.

In a statement issued here, Mr. Mani said he had never ridiculed the women members. “I only meant to say that they have revolutionary spirit. When they surrounded me, I chose to retract to the back rows, instead of engaging in a test of strength.”

“When I said I was frightened, I was not ridiculing them. I have a tradition of respecting women,” Mr. Mani said.
