: The United Democratic Front (UDF) on Sunday alleged that its campaign posters and hoardings were being destroyed in the Kannur Assembly constituency.

UDF Kannur constituency chairman Suresh Babu Elayavur and election committee general convener T.O. Mohanan said at a press conference here that the UDF’s election campaign materials were destroyed in many parts of the constituency where the Congress’ Satheeshan Pacheni was contesting against Congress (S) leader Ramachandran Kadannappally. They said the UDF had urged the Election Commission to ensure that voter slips distributed by booth-level officers were not allowed to be used as identity card for casting votes. They said voters’ slips had been misused by CPI(M) workers for casting bogus votes in the past elections. The facility to register open votes by people with infirmities was also being misused by CPI(M), they said.

Mr. Elayavur and Mr. Mohanan said a development document for the constituency was released by the UDF.
