Demand impermissible: Minister

December 28, 2014 10:06 am | Updated 10:06 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said the demand that those whose names figure on the PSC’s district-level rank lists for staff nurses be appointed nurses in medical colleges is legally impermissible.

In a statement here on Saturday, Mr. Sivakumar said though appointment of nurses in medical colleges and hospitals under the Director of Health Services was governed by the same special rules till 2007, appointments in medical colleges had been placed under the Director of Medical Education (DME) with the finalisation of special rules for institutions under the DME. Nobody from the PSC rank lists for Health Department could, therefore, be appointed in medical colleges, he said.
