The Youth Congress district committee organised a march to the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP) here on Tuesday in protest against the alleged delay on part of the police in booking the culprits in the Vasukutty murder case. P.N. Vasukkutty of Plamoottil house at Churalikode, near Elanthoor, in Pathanamthitta was reported missing from October 22.
The body of Vasukutty, a retired headmaster, was spotted in a car found abandoned near Mavelikara on Friday last.
Inaugurating the march, District Congress Committee president P. Mohanraj said investigation by two police teams attached to two districts had been creating confusion.
Government flayed
The government was trying to shield the culprits who might be enjoying political patronage, he said.
The police blocked the march led by Youth Congress district president Babu Divakaran some distance away from the Dy.SP’s office.
An iron barricade was broken when protestors tried to break the police cordon.
