The police have arrested a 37-year-old man on the charge of defaming the Nair community by lampooning its members and posting slanderous charges against them on an internet blog site.

The High Tech Enquiry Cell of the police arrested the accused on the basis of a complaint filed by the Nair Service Society general secretary.

The police identified the accused as K.V. Shine, a lower division clerk attached to the Technical High School, Ernakulam. He is a resident of Thuravoor in Cherthala. Cyber investigators said he had initiated the blog site through an e-mail account he created giving a false identity.

The police were also investigating him on the charge of creating discord between communities. Deputy Superintendents of Police J. Sukumara Pillai and E. S. Bijumon headed the investigation.
