Police intelligence officials are collecting the details of tribespeople living at Edamalakkudy, the remotest tribal grama panchayat in the Munnar forest division in the State.
Superintendent of Police K.V. George, who visited the grama panchayat, told The Hindu on Friday that an album containing details, including the photographs of each family members in the 26 settlements there, would be prepared and submitted to the government for preparing a plan to improve the life of people there. He said though various projects had been implemented, it had not reached the grassroots.
He said the data preparation of one settlement had been completed, adding that four officials, including two women, were collecting the details. The road to Edamalakkudy was still not in a motorable condition and the panchayat office was functioning at Devikulam camp office.
Mr. George said if basic facilities were provided at the settlements, many of the ills plaguing Edamalakkudy could be solved.
