A wooden cross was installed by unidentified persons at the same spot at Pappathichola, near Munnar, on Friday evening where a revenue team led by the Udumbanchola assistant tahsildar had on Thursday removed a cement cross erected on an alleged encroached piece of land under the Revenue Department. The Chinnakanal village officer visited the site in the evening, reports reaching here said. Some sheds on the encroached land were burnt under strict police monitoring after serving a notice on a Thrissur-based church denomination, Spirit in Jesus, which had allegedly erected the cross and encroached upon 34 acres of land.
