The cross-examination of the prosecution eyewitnesses in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case resumed at the Special Additional District and Sessions Court (Marad cases) here on Tuesday.
The special judge R. Narayana Pisharadi had temporarily adjourned the trial proceedings on Friday after an eyewitness, T.P. Rameshan alias Dineshan, swooned in the court after feeling sick. He was still recuperating at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital here. A report in this regard was submitted in the court on Tuesday.
Defence lawyers cross-examined T.P. Maneesh Kumar, who had earlier identified all the seven alleged killers – M.C. Anoop, Kirmani Manoj alias Manoj Kumar, N.K. Sunil Kumar alias Kodi Suni, T.K. Rajeesh, Muhammed Shafi, Shijith alias Annan Shijith, and K. Shinoj – who had taken part in the actual crime at Vallikkad in Onchiyam at 10.15 p.m. on May 4, 2012.
He said the accused had arrived at the spot in a Toyota Innova Multi Utility Vehicle driven by Anoop. Five of them had attacked Chandrasekharan and Muhammed Shafi had threatened to throw a bomb while he and others were attempting to take the seriously injured Chandrasekharan to hospital. But it was Kodi Suni who had later hurled the bomb, he said.
The case related to a section of Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders hatching a plot and engaging a gang to kill Chandrasekharan, a dissident leader who had walked out of the party in 2008.
The trial will not be held on Wednesday and Thursday in view of the general strike called by various trade unions.
