Says hassle-free Sabarimala pilgrimage for all is State’s aim

Minister for Devaswon V.S. Sivakumar presented the second Harivarasanam award, instituted by the State government, to vocalist K.G. Jayan at a solemn function at Sabarimala on Sunday.

Inaugurating the function, Mr. Sivakumar said the government had accorded top priority to basic infrastructure development at Sabarimala.

Funds sanctioned

The government had already sanctioned Rs.25 crore to implement various pilgrim amenity schemes under the Sabarimala Master Plan.

The United Democratic Front (UDF) government was committed to ensuring a hassle-free pilgrimage to every pilgrim coming to Sabarimala, he said.

The award comprised a purse of Rs.50,000, a memento, and a citation.

Raju Abraham, MLA, presided over the function. M.P. Govindan Nair, Travancore Devaswom Board president; Subhash Vasu, Board member; K.R. Jyotilal, Devaswom Secretary; K. Babu, Special Commissioner appointed by the Kerala High Court; P. Venugopal, Devaswom Commissioner; and Mr. Jayan spoke.
