CPI(M) meet from January 16

January 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:55 am IST - Palakkad:

The three-day district conference of the CPI(M) will begin on January 16 at Ottappalam, district secretary C.K. Rajendran said here on Tuesday.

Addressing the media here, Mr. Rajendran said 331 delegates representing area committees would take part in the deliberations. He said Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan and party State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan would participate.

To a question, he said nobody had left the party in Palakkad to join the BJP as claimed by the BJP leadership. The party and its mass organisations were able to win over many former BJP workers, he said.

Mr. Rajendran also claimed the party was able to add thousands of new members to its organisations. The conference would discuss among other things the agrarian crisis in the district, tribal issues in Attappady, and the lack of rail connectivity.
