CPI(M) has no truck with the PDP: CM

December 16, 2009 03:33 pm | Updated December 16, 2016 02:54 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan said here on Wednesday that the CPI(M) did not have any liaison with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led by Abdul Nasir Maudany (as of now).

Talking to the media after a meeting of the State Cabinet, the Chief Minister said the party had concluded that the cooperation with the PDP in the past should have been avoided. The CPI(M) would not have any understanding with not only the PDP, but also with other extremist organisations.

Asked about the Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy’s challenge whether CPI(M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan was willing to rule out future liaison with the PDP, the Chief Minister said that he need not be dragged into debates between the Opposition Leader and the party State Secretary. “There could not be any truck with the PDP in future. That is his personal view.”

Mr. Achuthanandan said the government planned discussions with the promoters of the Smart City Project though no date had been fixed. The latest statements of the promoters seeking early settlement of outstanding issues were just reiterations of their earlier stand. The government’s position on the issues raised by them had been stated before.
