Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Thursday said the Communist Party of India (Marxist) had no links to former Chief Justice of India K. G. Balakrishnan.

Asked to comment on a statement by former Supreme Court judge V. R. Krishna Iyer that the CPI(M) was silent on charges against the former Chief Justice of India, the Home Minister told reporters here on Thursday, “The Congress, which had appointed Mr. Balakrishnan as chairman of the National Human Rights Commission should speak about the allegations against him. The CPI(M) need not.”
