Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan said here on Wednesday that the future course of the Palmolein case before the vigilance court here was to be decided by the court.
The Chief Minister was responding to a question at his weekly Cabinet briefing whether the government would withdraw the case against the background of the death of the first accused in the case and former Chief Minister of the State K. Karunakaran. “The future course of the case is not to be decided by the prosecutor of the accused, but by the court,” the Chief Minister said.
Mr. Achuthanandan did not comment further on the matter stating that it was subjudice. Elaborating on his earlier declaration that monopolies would not be allowed to hold substantial equity in the Kannur International Airport Limited, the Chief Minister said that some business houses had approached the government seeking control of the airport project. However, the decision of the Director Board of the company was not to allot controlling shares to monopolies. Mr. Achuthananan confirmed that the minimum subscription would be 2001shares with face value of Rs. 100 each.
