A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Tuesday directed the government to file in a sealed cover a report on the details of the police investigation till date in a case relating to bringing of children from other States to orphanages in the State.

The Bench comprising Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice P.R. Ramachandra Menon directed the government to file the report by July 2. When a public interest writ petition on the issue was taken up for hearing, the court orally observed that this was a serious issue requiring a thorough probe.

The Bench pointed out that there were contradictions in the statements made by the orphanages and their associations, which sought to implead themselves in the case.
