A couple was found dead at their residence at Chempanthotti under the Sreekantapuram police station limits here on Thursday. The dead were identified as M.P. Babu, 43, and his wife Beena, 38. Their bodies were found in the house at Korangot, near Chempanthotti. The police said while Babu was found dead hanging, his wife’s body was in the bedroom. The police suspect Babu, a quarry worker, to have ended his life by hanging after strangling his wife to death around 10.30 a.m. after sending their three children to school. Before he hanged himself, Babu is said to have called his brother, staying nearby, over the phone to inform him that he murdered his wife and was going to take his own life.
