Congress and BJP indulging in ‘false campaign’: LDF

August 29, 2009 09:21 pm | Updated 09:21 pm IST - Thiruvananthapuram

Ruling LDF in Kerala on Saturday accused Congress and BJP of diverting people’s attention from “real issues” by indulging in ‘false campaign’ that law and order situation had collapsed in the state in wake of the recent murder of businessman Paul M George.

The investigation in the case was progressing in the right direction, LDF convener Vaikom Viswan said here in a statement.

The attempt of Congress and BJP was to trigger anti-government feelings among the people by ‘spreading lies’ about the murder, he alleged.

Kerala was one of the states in the country that stood first in maintaining law and order, he added.

Meanwhile, police intensified efforts to track down gangsters Omprakash and Rajesh who accompanied George, executive director of the Kerala-based Muthoot group of companies, when he was attacked and killed by some persons near Alappuzha in the wee hours of August 22.

Fourteen persons, including the one who stabbed George, have been arrested in connection with the murder. The police have also recovered the weapon used for the murder.
