The District Collector on Tuesday submitted a detailed report on the alleged violation of the election code of conduct by Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nalini Netto.

Official sources said that the report was submitted by Collector V.K. Balakrishnan. He had earlier faxed a preliminary report on October 18 following a complaint lodged by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) MLA M. Prakashan. The sources refused to disclose the content in the detailed report.

The Minister was accused by the CPI(M) of violating the code of conduct during his visit here on October 16. He had allegedly announced an employment opportunity tie-up with the European Union during the meet-the-press and also allegedly announced the sanctioning of Rs. 5 lakh for sports development at the college.
