Coastline offers immense scope: Minister

Kerala has immense scope for development along its 543-km coastline, Ports Minister V. Surendran Pillai said here on Tuesday.

He was speaking at a reception accorded to him by the Kerala Congress (Thomas) faction here on Tuesday for being appointed a Minister.

Mr. Pillai expressed optimism that during his term, the Ports Department would be able to complete most of the development activities planned along the coastline.

Mr. Pillai, who also holds the Youth Affairs portfolio, said youth-related terrorist activities were detrimental to the development of society. He emphasised the need for the development of a youth force in the State.

Party chairman P.C. Thomas inaugurated the function. Working Committee chairman Scaria Thomas and party district president Gracamma Mathew spoke.
