January 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:50 am IST - KASARAGOD:

With days left for the commencement of the 35th National Games in Kerala, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy would flag off the Statewide relay for the games torch here on January 23. The relay that would conclude in Thiruvananthapuram would be flagged off by Mr. Chandy at a function scheduled at the Government college premises here at 9.30 a.m. A meeting chaired by Collector P.S. Muhammed Sagir in his chamber on Wednesday evolved strategies for the successful hosting of the programme.  The function will also honour sports persons from the State who took part in the previous National Games. The authorities here have decided to accord a rousing reception to the torch relay in eight centres – Cherkala, Chattanchal, Periye, Kanhangad, Neeleshwaram, Cheruvathur and Kalikadavu, official sources here said. The meeting was also attended by ADM H. Dineshan besides other senior district officials and senior office-bearers of the district sports council and other sports bodies.
