Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said a collective effort of the people’s representatives, officials, and public is the need of the hour to solve issues in the development sector.

Speaking after commissioning a drinking water project of the Kalpetta municipality here on Sunday, Mr. Oommen Chandy said though the scheme was a multi-crore project, it could be commissioned in a short span of time with a collective effort. Mr. Oommen Chandy said drinking water was the right of a citizen and the government was trying to provide treated water to 50 per cent of the population. Water Resources Minister P.J. Joseph inaugurated the water supply connection of the project.

The project has been completed under the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns of the Union government at a cost of Rs.50.17 crore. More than 80,000 families under the municipal area will benefit from the project.
